The word “church” refers to the building of Christian worship, but also to the overall community of the faithful. Woodcrest Baptist Church is a building on Douglas Blvd, but it is also a body of baptized believers who meet to worship in agreement with Hebrews 10:23-25, “Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another – and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”
Our primary purpose is to carry out the Great Commission given by Jesus Christ in Matthew 28:16-20: “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” And again in Acts 1:8, “and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Or, in our world, it would be in Guthrie, in Oklahoma and North America, and internationally. We invite the community to worship with us. We also coordinate with the Southern Baptist Convention to support missionaries in Oklahoma, North America, and internationally to the carry the Gospel to the ends of the earth.
Woodcrest Baptist Church accepts members by salvation, by declaration of previous baptism by immersion, by statement, or by letter from another Baptist church.
